The Midlands Academy of Business and Technology is a licensed and accredited learning centre for international students. During term time we teach and prepare international students from all over the world for UK university places through our renowned and successful University Foundation Courses. Part of our teaching involves teaching English as a foreign language. (EFL or EAL) Our teachers are experienced and able to teach and improve the English skills of classes of beginners in the English language as well as accomplished English speakers.
We undertake ‘ladies only classes’, private classes or open group classes.
Accommodation
If you need assistance with finding accommodation during your summer school stay we can help you to find the type of accommodation to suit your budget.
Your first day
When you arrive at the Midlands Academy of Business and Technology we will show you around our school and introduce you to the teaching and administrative staff. Many of our staff are multi lingual, so if you are worried about speaking English, you can ask for help or ask questions in your own language.
We are here to help you to gain the most of your time with us. Once these introductions are completed, we will undertake an assessment of your current capability of English so that we can place you in the class, which will benefit you most. As you make progress, we will move you into the most appropriate class to help you to learn more and gain the most of your summer school experience with us.
Outings
We do arrange outings during your time with us and details of visits will be made available to you on your first day. Trips are optional, and will be charges separately. We provide a selection of visits to choose from, suitable for any budget (from as little as £15). A guided tour of London, including the Tower of London and the London Eye is a great favourite.
There are also opportunities for weekend trips to such places as Cardiff, capital city of Wales, Cambridge, famous University City and many other places of cultural or historic interest.

IELTS 1
This is the introduction to IELTS for students needing 5.0 or 5.5. Most Universities require higher scores and we suggest that students continue with IELTS 2 if they require a score of 6.
IELTS 2
This is the higher-level course with a major emphasis on the specific examination skills required to achieve high IELTS scores. In most cases students will have completed IELTS 1 or achieved the equivalent of IELTS 5.0 before starting this course.
